I have a real time voice application.
I am currently optimising infrastructure to shave off seconds.
It appears that my open ai project is currently housed in the US, although I have no way to be certain as this is not available in the UI, but the project was created a while, likely before other regions were introduced.
My goal: Change the location from US to EU as my agents are in Frankfurt. And no, the agents can´t move to the US as my users are primarily in the EU, asia and africa.
My issue: I cant find a way to achieve my goal in the UI. I read the docs, it says i need to create a new project to achieve this, I did, but there was no region selector in the creation process.
How can I select a region for data processing when creating a project?
After approval, they will give access to a separated endpoint for EU.
Data residency controls
Data residency controls are a project configuration option that allow you to configure the location of infrastructure OpenAI uses to provide services.
Contact our sales team to see if you’re eligible for using data residency controls.
How does data residency work?
When data residency is enabled on your account, you can set a region for new projects you create in your account from the available regions listed below.[…]
I’ve tried four times now to get a response via the sales form so that my business can use OpenAI in the EU. Without this we’re likely going to be forced to use something else. Each time I’m knocked back with “Thanks for your interest in our API platform. Based on your submission, we think you’ll benefit most from the self-serve resources we offer.” Which is pretty useless.
Can anyone on here get somehow/some thing to provide me with this?
I gave up. Better options are available if you are using these models on Azure I think. Service response time is more stable it seems to me, and I have control over the data sovereignty issue too. So I’ve retired my OpenAI api keys and am now using Azure.
