I am trying to build a bot for a customer, and I get the error “Your GPT can’t be shared publicly because it violates our Usage Policies: Name”.
While the name did include a brand reference (the client), changing it did not help. Trying to change the name to even “Demo: temp” and then publishing it (unlisted) gives the same error.
When you create a GPT as public, you see a warning. But, you can appeal. If you have an official permission from the owner of brand, you can provide your proof to OpenAI team.
Thank you - and yes, I understand the guideline, but a few points to note:
It does not allow me to publish the GPT even after I change its name to something completely different. It appears the only way to get around it is to re-create it from scratch and ensure the offending word is not in the name ever.
I do not get the “Appeal” button
I had a previous bot where the name (which is an English language word as well) showed up, but it was fine. It seems to be very nondeterministic (probably relies on a GPT underneath…)
Hi, I’ve come across the same problem and have been thinking about it for a while. I wanted to create a GPT for better prompts in Midjourney and share it with my students. ChatGPT won’t let me. I would understand that, but then why is the GPT store full of public chatbots that have Midjourney in their name? Why does it work for some people and not others?
