Hello fellow developers,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out to the community to inquire about a topic that has been on my mind lately. As we are all aware, OpenAI recently granted access to the GPT-4 API (8k) on July 6, 2023, to API users who successfully made a payment of $1 or more. However, I’m curious to know if anyone else is experiencing a delay in receiving access to the GPT-4 API like myself.

According to OpenAI’s announcement, they plan to open up access to all developers in the near future. Nonetheless, I am yet to receive access to the highly anticipated GPT-4 API. I understand that OpenAI aims to gradually raise rate-limits depending on compute availability, which could be a factor contributing to the delay.

For those who are also encountering this delay, I believe it would be helpful to share our experiences and potentially gather insights on the matter. OpenAI’s transparency regarding any potential issues impacting the dissemination of access would be greatly appreciated. It’s possible that they are still refining the system or addressing unexpected challenges given the massive demand.

As was mentioned in the Blog post, additional access will be granted as capacity becomes available. I don’t have any timelines for this to occur, but I see and hear of new developers being added every day, so it seems to be an ongoing rollout.

Hi there Danial,
There are a LOT of posts about this here. A quick search will lead you to all of them. :slight_smile: While you wait though keep developing. The only thing you will need to change is the model when you have access to GPT-4. And if you are doing any calculations on cost in your code that will need to be updated also.
