Getting 429 again, happens very often lately, nowhere near my limits

This is disrupting us massively, happening right now again, same last night. What can we do?

Is there someone we can talk to to get some help on preventing this from happening so often? It got really bad in the last month.

This is with the charts at 15m, you can see that even then, I don’t do many per day - 1k requests per day

Hi there!

There are two possible causes for 429 errors:

  1. You don’t have sufficient credits on your developer account
  2. You are sending too many requests at the same time, exceeding your rate limits

If the issue is (2), then you either want to aim to move to a higher Usage Tier (which requires to add more credits to your account) or you want to build in controls into your script to prevent hitting your limits. You can find some suggestions on how to achieve this here.

I am also facing 429.

  • I do have sufficient credits. I have only used $0.07 in Oct so far, I am also on auto renewal
  • I am manually sending requests, so it certainly is not too high rate.

I even deleted and recreated my api key
OpenAI even upgraded my tier level yesterday.

I still getting this exact error: “You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, read the docs: https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/error-codes/api-errors.

I am at usage tier 5, I can do text-moderation-latest 150,000 TPM 1,000 RPM

As you all can see, I am doing 1k requests per day, not per minute.

Hi, I am getting the same error!

Today I am getting BadRequestError: 400 Billing hard limit has been reached
This is also incorrect as I have credits and I have only been able to use $0.07 worth of credits. My limit is more than that.


@jr.2509 Will you be able to help? Looks like some of our orgs are stuck in weird errors. Is someone looking into these or should we just create a new account?

I am also facing the 429 error. I have enough funds in my account and am not reaching such quota. The website states that “Customers should no longer be seeing erroneous usage data” on Oct 2, but I am still unable to use the API.

It’s the same for me. I raised a ticket, but they haven’t done anything since October 2. Tier 1, balance around $30, limits are empty
