I was just wondering if anyone has been having issues recently with downloading files that ChatGPT creates, excel spreadsheet in particular.
2-3 months ago, I didn’t have any problem asking ChatGPT to create specific spreadsheets for me to download, worked really well. Now, it would still create the file in the chat and a downloadable link, but when I click on the link, i would get various error messages. I have not been able to use this function at all anymore recently, which is quite a bummer.
Anything I can do myself with prompting to help resolve this?
I have seen a number of users flagging issues with file downloads via ChatGPT in the past months. Personally, when testing it, I never faced any issues.
Perhaps you should share the specific prompt you are using so it is possible to recreate the issue and identify potential root causes.
I’ve seen users report issues with file downloads via ChatGPT recently, but I haven’t experienced any problems myself. Sharing the exact prompt you’re using could help recreate the issue and identify potential root causes. This might assist in finding a solution or a workaround.
Just as I was testing this out again before replying you guys, it’s working again…but the next time I run into issues I will share some screenshots. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Appreciate it!
Hi.
I’ve had the same issue.
It will regularly miss lines, repeat the same things in different rows although specifically instructed to produce different content for each line.
It doesn’t matter if it’s excel or csv.
The work around i found was to paste the content directly into the chat, but of course that’s not practical for long contexts and the output limit means it will often “crash” and not be able to deliver.
Another way I found is to break the input content down to smaller chunks. Not very practical either.
I’ve tried multiple prompt variations for the same thing but only got the expected results doing the above.
It will get better.
Has anyone solved the ChatGPT issue creating Excel, Word or Powerpoint files? It used to work and now just fails with explanations such as "I apologize for the inconvenience. Let me try generating the PowerPoint again and ensure it is properly saved for download.
Let’s create the PowerPoint presentation and make it available for download.
I apologize for the issues you’re experiencing. While the download link generation seems to be facing issues, here’s how you can create the PowerPoint presentation yourself manually:"
I am really hoping that this issue gets resolved as it was very useful until it was taken away. Anyone else experiencing these issues still or find success in resolving it?
I am also having the same issue. It began last night. A sort of “ghost link” issue is occurring where the link shows it is being typed out, but then it disappears. Please fix promptly.
I have the same issue. It started this morning. The link was void, even though I saw it was occurring but vanished for displaying. No link was displayed for download. It worked quite well in the past when I ask Chatgpt to export Excel file, etc and it will provide the valid download link. Please fix it ASAP!!!
I’m not sure if this helps, but I was able to catch this error in my 3rd or 4th chat trying to get a link to appear.
And here’s an additional error:
/home/sandbox/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/pandas/core/internals/blocks.py:2323: RuntimeWarning: invalid value encountered in cast
values = values.astype(str)
/home/sandbox/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/pandas/core/internals/blocks.py:2323: RuntimeWarning: invalid value encountered in cast

It worked yesterday because I was able to get several links to download Excel files. Then today the links did not appear anymore in the chat. I went back to look at my yesterday’s chat to see the links I used yesterday and they disappeared !!
I just subscribed to Chatgpt Plus yesterday and I’m quite disappointed !
It was working great for me for most of the day yesterday, then stopped working last night and still not working today. It tells me it’s having trouble and there’s an ongoing issue generating download links. It also is not able to look at any of the spreadsheets I try to upload. I am also a paid subscriber. I’d love to know if this is an issue they are aware of and working on.
Support is through the website help.openai.com there is a bot in the bottom right, you must leave your contact details and select the appropriate options to log your issue, a member of the support team will then contact you, you need to be patient as the support system is very busy.
