Feature request: Add Obsidian as a Codex desktop workspace option

Hi OpenAI team,

I’d like to request support for Obsidian as an IDE/workspace option in the Codex desktop app.

My use case is that I keep a large Obsidian vault with project notes, research notes, daily notes, and structured Markdown files. Codex already works well for code-oriented projects, but Obsidian vaults are also file-based workspaces where an agent can help maintain Markdown notes, update indexes, follow AGENTS.md instructions, and run local scripts.

It would be very useful if Codex could open Obsidian directly as one of the supported IDE/app targets, similar to how it can work with coding environments. This would make Codex much more practical for knowledge-base maintenance, research workflows, and Markdown-first project management.

Thanks for considering it.

Hey @bumbu.shoji1

Thanks for sharing this! This is a really thoughtful request and a great use case. I’ll pass this along to the product team so they’re aware of the need for supporting Obsidian as a workspace option in Codex.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write it up.
