Feature Request: Codex for Microsoft Word Add-in (macOS & Windows)

As many of us use Codex for coding and productivity, it would be incredibly valuable to have an official Microsoft Word add-in powered by Codex.

Use cases:
• Rewrite and improve academic/professional documents
• Fix formatting, headings, references, tables, TOC
• Generate reports directly inside Word
• Continue drafts from notes/prompts
• Convert rough content into polished documents
• Resume/CV optimization
• Thesis/dissertation assistance with structure and editing

Why this matters:
Many users work daily in Microsoft Word, not only in browsers or code editors. Having Codex directly inside Word would save time, reduce copy-paste workflow, and bring AI productivity into real document environments.

Ideal features:
• Sidebar chat assistant
• Selected text rewrite/improve
• Full document formatting assistant
• Table/chart generation
• Citation/reference cleanup
• Template generation
• Secure local file handling

Codex in IDEs is great — Codex in Word would unlock a massive professional and student audience too.

Would love to see an official OpenAI Word Add-in.

Hey @sandeepa! I can definitely see the appeal here. Having Codex built right into Word would make a lot of everyday document work way easier, especially for people doing heavy writing, editing, formatting, or polishing in that environment.

Really appreciate you spelling out the use cases. I can’t share a timeline right now, but I’ll pass this along internally.
