Self-Hosted Cloud Codex instances with IDE integration

Right now it seems like Codex supports only OpenAI managed cloud instances (and maybe github?) but what if I have my own Codex-cli agents running in the cloud..and say in MCP mode should I be able to call them via my IDE to ether:

  1. Offload what I’m currently working on in a way Cloud Agents currently work
  2. Connect to existing codex session in progress to interact with it.

Possibly this is on a roadmap somewhere already? Would it be useful to you? Pros/Cons?

Welecome to the forum!

I know this is not exactly what you seek or suggest, but it is related so might be of help to you or others.
