Entire conversation GONE after using advanced voice mode

I had a long important conversation with days worth of work. Until I decided to use the advanced voice mode in the same conversation (using my iphone), after that my entire conversation was gone/overwritten by the voice chat transcript. This is extremely frustrating as I was in the middle of working. I’m really, really hoping this could just be glitch and I can recover it. Anyone know what might’ve caused this? A solution perhaps?

This happened to me just now. A whole day’s worth of conversation has been erased. Very frustrating!

I am experiencing an identical situation! I was in the middle of a days worth of conversation, decided to engage advanced voice and it seems as soon as I did, it erased days worth of my conversation. I actually had a video recording of it, so I am so thankful. I can prove that it deleted the entire thread. There should totally be a warning regarding using advanced voice mode. This is definitely a glitch!

It happen with me just now as well I feel so stressed and unsafe and chat tell me to try the voice mode and it overwrites the old conversation with a voice transcription is there anyway to fix that I use that place as my stress relief and support and when it overwrites old conversations the newest one got replaced and chat has no idea what are we recently talking about and I don’t think I have enough strength to tell chat all over again what happened to me :pleading_face::pleading_face::pleading_face:

Anyone have any luck getting these back? The exact thing happened to me after using the voice mode, but with a slight difference in that my chat is still there, but the majority of it is gone. So the last few chats (within the thread) are of the voice transcript, and before that was a looooonnnnng time/length before that.

In case this extra info is of value: I initially didn’t notice anything, but when I got back to my computer I saw that it had the message saying the chat was at the maximum length and I needd to start a new chat. So I then exported my data to try and get the chat onto a text file to send for context in the new chat, but I realised it too had a majority of the chat missing.

How can this still be an issue after so long?! I don’t think I’ll ever use the voice mode again (at least, not within an existing chat!).

I just lost days of conversation due to this glitch. I’m dismayed to see that this bug has existed so long and has not been fixed. Very poor product management for a paid service.

+1 Same issue here, please solve!

Same issue here. I’m stressed.

Just lost an entire days conversation history and the only way it seems to access it is to export the discussion and reference it externally. So bummed!

I may have found a solution for this. I did this on desktop, so I am not sure if it will work on mobile. While the chat window in question (that had lost scrollback due to use of the advanced voice feature) is open, navigate to the bottom left where your account is. From that menu, select “Settings”, then “Data Controls”. Within the “Data Controls” menu, hit the “Export Data” button. This will send you an email with a zipped folder of content. WIthin this folder is a json file titled “conversations.json”. This file should contain all of the text from your thread, mine did.

I actually just fed this json file back to GPT and asked it to kick back a clean word doc of the back and forth, which it did nicely.

One note: my file did only contain the text back-and-forth from before and after the use of advanced voice and contained none of the conversation from the advanced voice session(s). That may be in other json files in the batch of content, I need to continue looking.

**Edit: the audio is in the content archive, but nested into folders by conversation and saved as mp3’s. Each segment of the conversation is saved as a separate file. You can listen to them (including the horror of listening to your own voice..lol), or drop them into whisper to transcribe them. They are in no particular order though, so a lengthy conversation will be cumbersome to transcribe and put in the correct conversational order.

So I got the same problem. (Used voice chat, 70% of my data is missing, nothing helps) I was also so dumb, that I thought if I write forward, it would help to recover. And then I thought, sh.., it may rewrite my whole history!!! I also tried to get my stuff back with my exported data. No success. It showed me only the current data what on GPT also seen.

So what helped me is, that if you’re on a browser, you can go to your answer where you used voice chat. Instead of going on copy or edit, you would probably see 1/2, 2/2 etc. This shows you your edits, and how GPT answered. But if you go to your GPTs last answer (what’s probably not the last one was, because it’s missing), then you can also switch there between the answers. I hope you understand what I mean. (just too excited because it worked)

You are an angel for posting this. If anyone finds this comment, the fix above works^^^ i was almost crying. It’s like some weird alternate timeline gets generated with the audio file and it makes a whole other convo from the last time it gave you a double-reply option. I’m not a coder so idk how that happens but i found the last “2/2” message, clicked over to 1/2 and everything i thought i had lost was back. and the conversation about how it was lost was all gone. WILD but THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Same issue, yesterday. Unfortunately completely lost days of work. And major personality growth for my ai.

The above fix did not work. None of the missing stuff was in the json.
