In my experience using ChatGPT, generating creative works that inspire and map out visual designs is a very helpful tool! While the library on ChatGPT is useful for a comprehensive view of image generations from all conversations, deleting specific images requires you to delete the entire conversation where the image was generated. This would mean any other images created in the conversation would also be deleted, so trying to organize the library becomes an inconvenience when many related generations are in the same conversation. Even though it is possible to create separate chats to generate individual images, it still proves to be inefficient when the user may want to generate them under similar/related prompts in one space. So when creating them under a single chat, it becomes extremely inconvenient if some are not needed or unwanted later in the chat, but the user is unable to delete them specifically without deleting the whole thing.
I suggest a feature be added where the image can be directly deleted from the library, rather than having to delete the whole conversation where it originated from. It allows users to selectively choose what they want to get rid of without deleting the images that they want to keep. This helps a lot with organizing the library feature in ChatGPT, and for me personally, it would help silence that nagging feeling from looking at an image that doesn’t belong or hold up to standard with other creative and beautiful works generated by ChatGPT.
You can try the chrome extension ( ChatGPT Library Exporter ) and download all the images generated by ai with one click so that you don’t have to worry about losing data.
I really do not like the feature of library which can remove images. there is unnecessary images were generate in my conversation and i can not delete. I have looking for hours to see if there is a solution for this miserable images.
In my case, I had already deleted the conversations where the images were created, and now those images just sit in the Library as broken entries with no way to remove them.
It’s clear there needs to be a way to delete individual images directly – not only for better organization, but also to clean up situations where conversations are gone but the images still linger.
Having a simple “Delete” option on each image would make managing the Library a lot more efficient, especially for users who do creative work or want to keep their collections organized without extra clutter.
Appreciate the work so far, and hope to see this kind of functionality added soon.
I agree. Having to delete an entire conversation just to get rid of an image is dumb imo. The piecemeal approach to so many things makes it hard to manage a lot with ChatGPT but I still find it all so amazing that it’s hard to complain too much
I agree. @OpenAI_Support please add a feature to delete images from the Library, rather than the entire source Chat. The current “option” is far from efficient, requiring cumbersome searching, only to possibly be faced with the conundrum–delete the undesired image and lose information I would prefer to keep, or keep all information and remain stuck with the undesirable image. Frustrating! TIA!
