Works on Chrome, not Safari.

Same issue, it doesn’t work only in Safari, in Chome is ok.

This is only a solution for the active window. If you refresh, the issue persists.

Steps to Disable the Keypress Event Listener in Safari:

  1. Open Developer Tools:
  • First, open Safari and go to the webpage where you are having the issue (e.g., this chat).
  • Click on Develop in the Safari menu bar (if you don’t see the Develop menu, enable it by going to Safari > Preferences > Advanced, and check the box for “Show Develop menu in the menu bar”).
  • Choose Show Web Inspector from the Develop menu.
  1. Find the Keypress Event Listener:
  • In the Web Inspector, go to the Elements tab.
  • Click on the element you want to inspect (you may want to select the entire window or focus on the specific element where the issue occurs).
  • In the right panel of the inspector, look for the Event Listeners section.
  1. Disable the Keypress Listener:
  • In the Event Listeners section, search for the keypress event related to the code you mentioned (function h(f){f.code !== "Space" && !dT(document.activeElement) && o.focus(); }).
  • Find the keypress event listener targeting the window, as suggested by the forum.
  • Once you locate it, disable that event listener.
  1. Test Copy-Pasting:
  • Now try using Cmd + C to copy text again. It should work without interference from that keypress listener.

I did it, but the keypress event listener targeting the windows keeps coming back. How to save the change?

It works when I disabled it. But once I close the “show web inspector” window, the function is enabled again and the problem comes back.

I am having the same issue. It worked fine two days ago and now it doesn’t. I can copy on all my other open safari tabs, just not ChatGPT. I don’t understand what this “keypress event listener target” thing is…but I use this every day - I pay for the monthly service - is this going to be fixed???

Same issue for me on Safari! Very annoying!

Same Issue- just started, MAC OS, safari - Sept 16th, not able to copy/to paste, annoying sound

I am having the same issue exactly as you describe it.

Command+C still not functioning properly as of 9/16

Copy icon at the bottom of the response works, but paste is not formatted and must remove a million #s and *s.

Easiest fix: Highlight what you want to copy, Ctrl+Click, select Copy from the drop down pop up and paste as normal into another document. This allows you to properly copy and paste formatting.

Also running into the same issue as of 9/15/2024

Still unable to ⌘ C … feeling slow

OMG I thought I was the only one. Yes, as everyone else has said, other browsers work fine. In Safari, cmd+c does not work and I only have to manually select copy from a highlighted word or sentence.

Same issue here. Unable to cuse cmnd+c

Same issue. Ever since they added the new o1-preview. so annoying.

As of now Sep 17, 2024 3:43 pm EST it works again!

No, it doesn’t. It still persists on my side.

Still persists. Did you change anything? What did you do?

I didn’t do anything. Didn’t even restart Safari. It just worked all of a sudden. Even on my old open tabs. Command + c works again on my end. Safari 17.6 (19618.3.11.11.5) running on Sonoma 14.6.1 the little quotation mark shows up when text is selected and the CMD+C works
