ChatGPT Business conversation search has been broken for my account for at least two weeks.
Known conversations still exist and can be opened directly, but searching for exact words contained in those conversations either returns no results or returns unrelated conversations.
I verified the problem with a unique test:
The exact text “ABC123” visibly appeared twice in an existing conversation.
I searched ChatGPT conversation history for “ABC123.”
ChatGPT returned “No results.”
The conversation remained available and opened normally.
This demonstrates that the conversation data exists, but the search index is not returning it.
Support history:
Original case 12627407 opened August 4, 2026.
Last substantive support response received August 7.
HAR file supplied August 10 as requested.
Additional screenshots and follow-ups supplied August 13.
Executive escalation sent August 14.
OpenAI created duplicate case 13207536 and automatically closed it, directing me back to the original case.
The original case has still not received a meaningful technical response.
Another user recently posted a nearly identical problem under the title “Account-side search indexing broken for weeks - Support stuck in Tier 1 loop.” Their conversations remained intact, but known search terms failed across different browsers and devices after they had already supplied support with detailed evidence and a HAR file.
I am requesting that OpenAI:
Assign case 12627407 to the appropriate technical or engineering team.
Inspect the conversation search index for my Business workspace.
Confirm whether the account or workspace can be reindexed.
Provide a substantive status update and an expected next step.
I have not posted the HAR file, private conversation links, workspace identifiers, or personal account information publicly. Those details have already been supplied through the support case.
Agreed. You don’t realize how terrible it is to not be able to find any of your historical searches until you cannot. I have started saving descriptions and links to them
I had ChatGPT make a conversation tracker for me and then a skill to update it. I feed it the chat URL and it logs the title, keywords, etc. This at least provides something for now…
I also I wanted to provide a picture showing the failure in my system so other people can see it.
Filed a case a long time ago and it seems that tech support is just ignoring it.
Can’t tell you how many credits I’ve spent trying to resolve this and trying to figure out how to get escalation. OpenAI’s unwillingness to communicate is a real AI Opener. See what I did there.
Honestly this is costing me a fortune in time and productivity. Extremely disappointed with the vendor.
Here is the latest which is not helpful. Would appreciate if they identified it as a bug and letting us know if they are working it rather than just paying lip service. For all I know, they could have just filed it under “Open in 2028”

I managed (eventually) to convince the support chatbot to give me the below:
*
“Escalated to a support specialist; You can expect a response in the coming days. You can respond to this email with additional information if needed”.
Crazy as a paying customer that such a simple thing as search is not working. Something that takes hours away each week in productivity, just trying to find things you have already done!
All I can say… is I if I hear from anyone I will post it.
I received the following this AM and replied that the problem applies to all users in workspace.
I’m sorry for the delayed response, our support specialists are working through a high volume of requests. I’m an AI support assistant helping move your case forward.
I’m AI‑assisted support (not a human).
I can’t see or confirm internal case details like whether engineering has marked it as a bug, reviewed specific HAR/screenshot files, or the investigation status—what I can do here is capture a crisp, complete repro summary (workspace name, impacted users, exact query like “ABC123”, one affected conversation URL, browser + version, and timestamp/timezone of the failed searches) so it’s in one place for the technical reviewer; can you confirm whether both workspace users see the same failed search behavior on chatgpt com in the same browser?
