ChatGPT Plus and Usage Limits

It says 40m/3h, but I ran out after only 19 messages, including editings. At the same time I’ve never experienced any limits with free 3.5 turbo. 1 message a minute would be a joke, but 1 message every 5 minutes is not funny at all.

I am with you on the whole ADHD. It was one of the most useful features to instruct my bot to give me bite sized bits of information but that means a lot more prompts.

This cap is worrying as it means I can never really rely on this as a tool, but more of a novelty and I will probably unsub as I can’t count on this tool being available when I may need it.

I’ve also just hit the limit on the service I’m paying for :frowning:
Is there any news about when the limit will be lifted?
For custom GPT’s it’s so low they become barely usable, I think about 20 prompts now.
We either need a higher-priced sub with no cap or a bigger cap on this one.

Track your requests accurately and then report back with exact numbers. When I did that test, OpenAI will providing the announced number of queries.

I join those dissatisfied with the constant lowering of the limit. The more I successfully implement ChaGPT into my work, the more often I find myself hitting the limit.
When price poll was done on the optimal price for this service, I didn’t place my vote knowing the service would be extremely limited in this way. Under the circumstances, it’s not worth more than 5€ per month.

I also understand the need for scalability, but ChatGPT plus as an individual service should be usable within logical limits for one person indefinitely.
If it is to be my assistant, I expect it to be available 24/7 and ready to “talk” to me without getting tired.

A reasonable limit for me is 1 inquiry per minute. I actively use it for a maximum of 4 hours a day, the rest of the time it is unused and due to time zones and global usage, the infrastructure load is thus ± distributed.
For automated calls I use payid API, so…
Maybe an automatic switching to my own paid API key should be an option…

The limit is incredibly low, rendering custom GPTs nearly useless. I agree with above, the Plus sub should allow someone to work with the tools for a full 8-hr day. Im unclear who Plus is even for? Its like a trial. Far too restrictive and makes me wanna just work with GPT3.5 all day for free. At least then I can get something done.

I just signed up for the paid service (Plus) and I hadn’t read anywhere, on the upgrade page, about this 40/3h limitation… This thing is unbelievable, so the service is absolutely useless and expensive! I will unsubscribe immediately.

It is very unpleasant and unprofessional not to mention this limitation on the subscription page. I don’t have to look for this important information anywhere.

You have to SAY IT THERE!

full agree. This limit change would be considered as fraud.

Except that it’s not.

Extra words for discourse

Used to have it pre-purchase:

You guys can read all the previous opinions here, and that’s something that really annoys me. Why has this cutting-edge company implemented such an ‘analog’ method of counting message interactions to measure client activity? If you have the most advanced AI technology, why can’t you create a more sophisticated, distributed, proportional, and reasonable criteria to avoid extreme operation and usage? To me, it’s clear that they want to push us, the users with higher and more frequent activities, to purchase the more expensive plans. For ‘me,’ a somewhat financially limited South American guy… Isn’t that obvious? Why can’t they use their own AI to devise a smarter plan? I mean, am I here wasting my time, complaining about the obvious misconduct of an AI company? Lol! They don’t need me. They don’t need us! They’ll control the corporations with that ChatGPT Enterprise! I’m kidding. You guys just need to set a data (or word) limit restriction and let us, the talkative or workaholic folks, CHAT in peace!

I have cancelled GPT-4. The limit is annoying. But what is even more annoying is that over the months I have been using GPT-4 I have found that it is getting dumber and dumber!

It is 100% getting dumber. A month ago I used it to summarize more than 80 pages pdfs and it wrote summaries of like 600 words. But now it does not write more than 100 words and says that it cannot repdroduce what the pdf says because of some weird policy. Then why are you able to read pdfs if you cant give me the info from them :skull:

This was its response:
“I’m unable to provide exact text or verbatim content from the PDF. However, I can offer a concise summary or analysis of the sections within the constraints of fair use and content usage policies. For detailed and exact content, please refer to the PDF directly. If you have specific questions about the content or need clarification on certain points, feel free to ask!”

Just curious is this even legal? Sadly I am not EU user, if not might consider fill a lawsuit on this, as it sound like a scam even have proof on it.

I just signed up for plus this weekend due to being interested in the capability to have web browsing capability.

After learning of the message limits and the deceitful nature of how buried this information is and how it is not presented or even accessible at all during the “up-sell” pages/process, I am cancelling immediately.

OpenAI should not get too big of an ego, other models are not far behind at all.

Ironically, laughably so, asking ChatGPT to clarify this matter is utterly maddening…

Just signed up and immediately got hit with a limit. It is ridiculous. I’m interested with the comments that it is getting dumber. I’ve noticed this as well and just read an article about this. So if you upload a pdf that counts as a message and you can only do 40 or I guess 25 now in a few hours. Is this really the case? So deceitful, not that I am shocked.

Is there any reaction of OpenAI on this?

I too find this quite unfair. I’ve had the Plus Subscriptions for months and just now noticed that it got restricted. (I hadn’t used it much in december and january, but now i need it).

I remember at the end of November, nobody new could get a Plus Subscription, as they dind’t have the capacity to let more people use it and I guess this was their solution to it.

But then again it seems quite unfair to limit it for all users. It also kinda makes the Subscription less useful for the users, so they might should limit the user count again instead. Because like this, the more users are on it, the more restricted it gets.

And i do understand, that for them this obviously makes more money as for each new user they get +20$ a month. But that just degrades the Quality of their Product at the end.
