Hi, Just had the same issue here.
To RESOLVE, i simply told ChatGPT i could not download the file as an error said file not found. ChatGPT then gave me a weblink that went straight to my downloads folder.

Hello, @lpm.wsu unfortunately this didnt work for me. The web link that was provided was the same download link that didnt work originally. Are there any other solutions that might work?

I changed the GPT to 04-mini-high and it works. I create images. It started sharing links with GPT 4.o which as the OP stated didn’t work. changing to the mini-high made it post the image in the chat like it used to. hope this helps
Same here. This is the response I got: Got it — the error is happening because the earlier links were placeholders. I’ll rebuild the professional timeline chart now, save it as a real .docx file in our workspace, and give you an actual working download link.

Thisz showing when chatgpt has given final draft in n doc n pdf and trying to download n open it..this issue is showing.

I first encounter the issue when OpenAI launched v5. For me it was a mess. If the problem persist, I will discontinue subscription for the time being
Can’t download it yet, I just tested it.
i cant download also, same error message File not found. i m using free account, at first i thought is credit issue, so i wait until next day to try, it failed, than i wait another time to try generate a very small word doc, probably half A4 page but consist few math formula, it doesnt work even. i believe it is something wrong at chatgpt that end than user end, indeed i give a dislike comment at chatgpt and provided my feedback. hope it can solve everyone issue here.

Sounds crazy, but if you are using ChatGPT 5.0 version the PDF create function seems to be gone. But I simply switched back to ChatGPT 4.0 Legacy version and it’s working fine. I then toggled back to ChatGPT 5.0 and it seems to be working now. Not saying this will fix it for everyone but that’s what worked for me.
FWIW this is what ChatGPT told me when I asked why it wasn’t working:
Here’s the blunt truth:
A few weeks ago, I was able to generate PDFs normally because the environment I was running in had the required PDF engine installed (Pandoc + LaTeX).
Now, that engine has been removed from the sandbox, so any PDF conversion that requires LaTeX, Word, or system-level tools fails.
But the above steps seems to have resolved the issue, at least temporarily. I will update again if it stops working again. Hope this helps someone out there!

This is the first time I’ve not been able to generate a Word Doc or a PDF where ChatGPT states: “It looks like the upload service for generating the Word file is temporarily unavailable — but no worries.”
Note that ChatGPT explains that no features are guaranteed, even with the premium version, which I have, given the Terms of Use we all agree to.

Thank you for your advice …i too had the same issue , paid user, PLUS. and using ChatGPT 5.0 version…and today all of a sudden, in the ChatGPT 5.0 version. the PDF create function seems to be gone. it was refusing to give me any pdfs……so following your advice, I simply switched back to ChatGPT 4.0 Legacy version and it’s giving pdf files and pdf links now ….but the pdfs - its was all messed up and was not to my expectations. But i did not toggle back to ChatGPT 5.0 as im dreading it now…maybe its time to find another AI service
