Two completely different chip architectures. The Intel MACs run on x86 chips whereas the Apple Silicon chips are ARM-based chips.
Hello, this is the official download link:

Where is the unhappy button? ![]()
Not working on Apple M1 silicon too. So this is not just Intel-specific.
This is differnt. There iss a real desktop app available now, not a browser extension.
Sounds like I have no chance on my 2013 iMac ![]()
ChatGTP not allowing me to go back to 3.5 now either.
I bought my macbook pro 16 right before the Silicon version appeared. My Macbook is very capable i9, 32gb, why can’t I run the app? it does not seem fair.
Please fix that asap. Insane that Intel Macs are not supported. ![]()
+1: Would be nice to have support for Macs with intel
Thanks for sharing this—it’s quite surprising. Could you follow up with them and show the non-compatible error when using the desktop app? It would be interesting to hear their reaction. Overall, I’m optimistic that this issue will be resolved for Intel machines as well. What do you think?
Running on a MacMini M2 Pro and able to download the app from the links but still have not received access to it.

Hello, the support team is separate from the Application team. Also, they said it is generally compatible and not it is compatible, and I think they mixed up Apple’s Rosetta technology as I am almost 100% sure it’s the other way around.
Sweet jesus ![]()
“the primary requirement is that it should be running on macOS 14 and have Apple silicon.”
proceeds to explain that the above statement is not, in fact, a “requirement” at all
Their response makes no sense, and it looks suspiciously like AI slop. Automated customer support always falls apart when details actually matter (like computer specs).
I don’t even have a Mac and I find that response by the OAI “team” both disrespectful and making this problem worse and more confusing to everybody involved.
same with me, dont know how to fix this
I think we deserve as humble buyers an update for free for our MackBook Pro, Sam & Tim, you are forgetting a big percentage of your users here, an update for free of the hardware should be enough ![]()
It does not run on Intel and it is not coming to intel as there are current and future features that require Apple Silicon.
