This bug is back after working for about a week. At this point, it seems like it may be a new restriction to the service rather than a bug which is not acceptable. Gemini ultra is looking good.
There’s a workaround. You need to open chrome dev tools, toggle device toolbar, select a phone dimension. Then refresh website and now you can type sth e.g. “hello”, wait for output and after that you can close dev tools to get normal full screen and it should work from now on.
For me this workaround did only work partly. I couldn’t close the dev tools. When closing the dev tool, I don’t get a Conversation key not found
error but instead the following.
For now I’m just keeping the dev tools mode open and set the device identifier to iPad and it works.
Hey @openai team this is getting embarrassing
are you guys trying to discourage private use?
its working now!!! Thank you so much bro!!! you saved my day!!
They do this on purpose to force you to give your data, same stuff on mobile app.
I’m cancelling my Plus!
I have the same problem since Thursday, I never had it before - which is weird since I always had history enabled.
Thank you all for reporting this, and I hope they’ll see it and fix it!
Same here. Really annoying. Any estimate from ChatGPT persons when, if ever this will be resolved.
I’m experiencing this issue for the second time, it was fixed for a while but came back. As a paying customer this is terribly annoying. It really start to feel like it’s openai is doing this on purpose.
Conversation Key Not Found is back today. As has been reported here hundreds of times at this point, the situation is:
- Type a prompt and receive a response.
- Type a second prompt and receive the error: “Conversation Keye Not Found.”
For something that is costing me $240 per year, I expect so much better than this. I am so frustrated this and other similar errors keep popping back up despite these hundreds of reports of them. This is getting ridiculous. If I felt there was a suitable alternative to ChatGPT that meets my needs, I’d be switching in a heartbeat. Keeping an eye on Gemini…
Sadly Gemini is worse, keeps your data for 3 days even when you opt out.
Since OpenAi is in a comfortable leadership position doesn’t care at all about doing the right thing.
Really looking forward to the time real competition comes out, I’m leaving in a blink, horrible ux, dumber and dumber model, terribly slow, paternalistic tone, etc etc etc
This issue went away for a few days, but is now back. I cannot pinpoint a root cause. The nexus 7 workaround seems to be working for now. Wondering what the threshold will be when Open AI support team will pick this up.
Yeah, it worked for a while and now it’s not working again. I also have a distinct feeling that the model is getting much worse. I tried some basic Unity questions that it previously had no problem solving and now it messed up basic math and added a wall of text, even though I have it set to be concise (that also used to work). I wrote support 14 days ago and heard nothing. Disappointing.
I guess mass unsubscribe is a good way to indicate dissatisfaction. I am going to try Gemini Advanced for a few months.
Same issue sadly, going to try now the workaround with chrome, thanks
Update: The workaround of using the Nexus 7 emulator in chrome worked so far! thank you so much!
btw, incredible that OpenAI is not addressing this issue, even for paying customers as it cuts its functionality in half…
Same issue, this is where privacy support ends…
Using phone emulation in Firefox also seems to work fine (after reloading the page).
Update:
Looks like this is related to the User Agent string.
With this one it works even without resizing the page:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 11; SAMSUNG SM-G973U) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) SamsungBrowser/14.2 Chrome/87.0.4280.141 Mobile Safari/537.36
Thanks @roman workaround works. I’ve also tested with FF extension User-Agent Switcher
And when I set Mobile User Agent as in the image below, then it works.
Workaround confirmed!
Seems fixed now.
And all this trouble for nothing, both companies still retain your data after your turn it off.
Can’t wait for opensource to catch up.
As per their terms:
