Hi, I added over $100 to my credits balance, but I’m still stuck on Tier 1.
I also noticed I can’t add any more credits to my account - it gives an error saying I need to enter an amount between 1 and 0. I even spent around ~$4 hoping it would reduce the balance enough to allow a top-up, but that didn’t work either - so I’m basically stuck at $100.
I’ve already contacted support and checked the Help Center, but haven’t found a clear explanation or resolution.
Can someone from the support team reach out and help with a resolution? Thank you very much.

Purchasing a $100 credit balance does not automatically move you to Tier 2. OpenAI tiers are usually determined by billing history and spending, not by preloaded credits. Adding credits is not counted until those credits are used. Once the credits are consumed and you purchase new ones, that triggers a recalculation and possible tier upgrade.
Although the screenshot says “criteria are met, you’ll automatically move to the next tier”, this does not guarantee an immediate upgrade to Tier 2.
To trigger the recalculation, once your balance drops, adding at least $5 in new credits will upgrade you to Tier 2. And wait to see your new tier level in 24 or 48 hours. If you are still Tier 1, visit OpenAI Help Page and contact with support team.
