Cannot start billing plan again

I cancelled my billing plan after OpenAI suspended my API access (because I have $1 overdue payment, when I still have $45 credit balance).

Now I want to start billing plan again, however the overview page just keeps showing Canceled. What can I do about this?

I tried contacting OpenAI in the help chatroom but no one responded.

Also, how do I make sure OpenAI uses my credit balance to pay all API usage (instead of paying with credit card)?

Regarding your open invoice: Credit balances cannot be used to pay past invoices. You must have a valid credit card on file to ensure these invoices get paid.

Yes, I have just paid the $1 bill with a credit card. Though I would prefer to pay with credit balance only

So, the depicted “start billing plan again” simply doesn’t work?

If the automatic monthly charge for a past month’s billing went through, then I think you should have a path to reactivate the account.

Unfortunately, your account balance that would show there is not showing there. You can look at the usage page and see if there is any hint that they still consider your credit payment. “cancel plan” would be a dirty trick if it also meant “keep my credits”, but likely not above OpenAI to have it work that way and within the terms that say “your money is ours forever the second you pay”.

Yep, the “start billing plan again” button just doesn’t work.
I can find my credit balance in the usage page (it shows $72.48 / $120.00, so ~$45 balance), though I need to find out how to pay my spendings with credit balance only.

BTW, what is the best way to have someone at OpenAI to respond to my support request? My messages (wrote 4 days ago) in the support channel is still not read by anyone

You can see if it is a browser issue: disable extensions, adblockers. Clear site cache and cookies to the point where you need to log in again to platform.openai.com, and log in through the main page at openai.com.

The reason being that they have Cloudflare captchas and Arkose captchas that now simply block buttons from working if they can’t reach their domain, with no errors shown.

About the account, if your monthly balance cannot be charged to a payment method, that results in the account being suspended. Then they’ve taken away the interface that allows you to clearly place or change a monthly payment method, and there is no way to manually pay an outstanding invoice that didn’t go through.

Then we can tag recently active developer relations staff like @nikunj @romainhuet @adjokic about the problem that their forcing prepay on users with poor implementation has caused, the inadequacy of the payment system in API for settling previous balances, lack of warnings on UI methods which will cause permanent disruptions, and have them reactivate the account and dump some promo credits into your account for the trouble this outage of service solely caused by their changes.

I tried clearing all browser history and caches, still not working.

Just wrote an email to support@openai.com. Hopefully I would get some response there.
