Browsing with Bing (Beta) 🎉

ChatGPT will now have a world-class search engine built-in to provide timelier and more up-to-date answers with access from the web. Now, ChatGPT answers can be grounded by search and web data and include citations so you can learn more—all directly from within the chat. The new experience is rolling out to ChatGPT Plus subscribers starting today and will be available to free users soon by simply enabling a plugin which brings Bing to ChatGPT.

Does anyone have this plugin working yet?
If yes, please describe how the experience is, compared to the default browsing plugin in terms of speed and hallucinations.
Thanks!

I went through the entire list of plugins to find that I don’t have it yet. Manageable with 16 pages of 8, but soon it will be more time consuming. Would be nice to be able to search the list for plugins to install. Also display more than 8 at a time.

Does anyone know if the API version of ChatGPT will aso have access to Bing?

Since bing uses gpt4, will this improve the free experience somehow?

I don’t have it yet
I don’t think it has been enabled. There is no image on the internet of someone who has it. Have you noticed that “Code Interpreter” is now “Code Execution” and has gone from alpha to beta?

@Harmony, I have just received access. will do some testing in the next couple of days and will share the results here.

So far, working fine on iOS as well including citations. although there is no option to select plugins on the app yet, if you already have a chat that is plugin enabled, you can continue the conversation on the app without any issues.

There is no plugin access via API, yet :frowning: , hopefully soon

Mine just switched over. It’s virtually the same. In multiple instances I get one decent link for info, then it spins in circles on certain websites. I try to reword but goes down the same loops, despite saying I want info from diverse sources.

I’ve activated the beta features including the ‘Browse with Bing’. Whenever I try to get ChatGPT to provide in formation based on recent I get an answer like “As an AI, I’m currently unable to perform real-time searches or access current data on the internet directly. I don’t have the ability to browse the web”. Is there something I else I need to do?

I have browse with Bing enabled in ChatGPT4, but I keep getting told this: “I’m sorry for any confusion, but as an AI model developed by OpenAI, I don’t have the ability to browse the internet in real-time. This means I cannot provide current or live updates on specific websites”.

I don’t know how to make it recognize that it can browse the web, having enabled this feature in the settings.

Try writing “search bing,com”

I can’t get it working
 I click on Settings
Beta
“Browse with Bing”
and I still get the same message “
, I don’t have the ability to browse the internet in real-time, which includes search engines like Bing. My responses are generated based on a mixture of licensed data, data created by human trainers, and publicly available data. As of my last update in September 2021
” etc

Can anyone explain why some users are having success with real-time results and some are not? We are all paying $20 month for GPT Plus, for these features, right?

Same here!

6 posts were merged into an existing topic: Why did my ‘Web browsing’ option disappear?

When plugins first came out sites that listed them starting appearing. Here are a few of the early ones, some are quite useful.

https://pugin.ai/

https://zapvine.com/

Sites such as this now pop up like weeds and I don’t look for more as even that is time consuming and the first one listed currently serves me well.

Translation:

As an alternative to using the Bing browser, you can use the Browser Pilot plugin.

Tnx!
I’ve tried similar plugins but they didn’t work for me, so I’ll try “Browser Pilot”.

I found this plugin called browserpilot, which works just as well if not better than browse with bing, so while waiting for the bing browser to come back I’m using this and prob don’t need to use anything else.
