I submit the first input and wait for it to crash.
Then I refresh the page.
After the page load, the most recent chat says “New Chat,” but this is actually the erroneous chat that was added. The next chat in the history is the actual last chat with your submitted input.
Goto the actual last chat, click “edit” and then “submit” and it should work as expected
I experienced the crash in Chrome after inputting “what is my todo list?” with the TODO List plugin enabled.
This Workaround instruction is clear and it worked for me, thank you!
(I’d still like to know the exact error though, let me know if you figured it out.)
I’m not getting hard crashes but extreme lag and delay.
The issue happens specifically on a retrieval plugin that connects to Pinecone, which houses examples of writing structure, style, tone, etc.
When you begin using the plugin it’s fine. However, after a few back and forth with ChatGPT it slows down significantly. As a user, when you type there’s a minute delay between that you write and what appears on the screen.
Minor issue overall, but curious to see if others are experiencing anything similar.
Hi folks! Jeff from OpenAI here. The crash that happens when you start a conversation with localhost plugin should be fixed now. Please let us know if it’s still happening to you! Apologies about the issue in the first place, and appreciate you all reporting it.
It doesn’t crash anymore! But the interface is a little different now, and I’m getting a lot of black blinking squares instead of what used to be the “Using plugin” interface, which showed the content that was being sent back and forth? Is this a bug or intended?
I have seen CHATgpt do that whenever I ask it a particularly difficult question, and can only assume that it is having to research the answer in depth. Possibly this is because it has never been asked that question previously. This is not unlike a human who can answer some questions instantly, but when asked questions that they need to research in depth in order to find answers it takes time to do so and it also takes time to confirm that the answers you have are correct.
Not sure that’s what it is - normally you would see a box with details about the request that was sent out to the plugin. Now you are left with flashing cursors where the boxes would normally be. The chat carries on as normal and the calls are being made.
It’s working 80% of the time for me — if you refresh when you see the flashing squares, it’ll look normal the next time, and it’ll show all the correct data
