Are credit grants just a scam?

I’m honestly struggling to understand the point of these data-sharing grants.

Every month I see grants being issued, and every month I see them expire, while my account continues burning through paid credits. If OpenAI is collecting data through the data-sharing program, shouldn’t the associated grants actually be usable?

Right now it feels like OpenAI gets the benefit of the data. What’s the purpose of granting credits that never get used?

If there’s a legitimate reason for this behavior, I’d genuinely like to understand it. But this is very frustrating.

There might be some confusion here.

“Credit Grants” in billing shows anytime a balance is loaded to an API organization. That can be your payments.

It is made worse because OpenAI is not showing the real purchase date or date they were added. The “Received” is false, back-dated to the start of the month for their own obfuscation and confusion-providing.

The balance $0.00/X.XX means you have exhausted the particular balance of the line item.

API Data sharing, free tokens per day on certain models when enrolled, is simply never billed.

Hey @Sahas_N, that can definitely be frustrating.

I'd recommend opening a support case so the team can investigate the account-specific details. Once you have a case number, feel free to share it here and I can take a closer look.
