See, I actually think that’s why I like it!
I think it really opened the door for people to go “Oh, this is super neat (and relevant), but what would that look like in [insert industry here]?”
I kind of like the fact they honed in on one specific little part, because I want to see more creatives and stories that explore these themes more. A lot more to be honest. Like there’s soooo much potential, and once more people actually take a peek at these kinds of topics, I find it inspiring because it’s all still fair game right now.

Overall, not bad! The ending was kinda borked… I woulda ended it on a darker note… what happens next? I doubt they would turn off such a “perfect” system so quickly!
But yeah, a season 2 with journalists from 2009 facing AI advances would be great and fit into the three timelines format well, I think. They’ll likely drop the show, though.
You said it was written with help from ChatGPT? I could almost see it in the framing / pacing … Personally, even GPT-4 (or especially GPT-4 chat?), the LLM misses a lot of things when it comes to details, but it’s good at big picture planning and outlining…
(I recently tried to coax some foreshadowing out of it, explained it’s chapter 2 and we’re revealing in chapter 40 and to be very subtle, and it actually put in something like, “This detail made Hunter realize big changes would be happening in later chapters…” Hah!
I really, really want a GPT-4-instruct for long-form fiction… The 128k context is nice, but it still borks a lot because of how it was trained, I think.

Since this topic reminded me of Knight Rider I found myself reminiscing today, wondering which show actually was the first time I saw AI on TV.

@_j mentioned it upthread, I think, but yeah, it’s a classic.
I did like in the future how the government said, “There’s a list of people you CANNOT go after!” which kinda broke the whole idea of the anti-crime system, but it’s truthful to how it will likely work in the real world - the 1% being protected… Overall, though, great show. Thanks again for the pointer!

Idk how but it seems I’m the only one who saw the most culturally relevant tv series with AI as it’s major subject and main character.
Person of Interest is 5 seasons of story that will make you think, feel, and believe AI is the most significant thing to happen to humanity since the invention of fire.

Started it once or twice, but never made it past a few episodes for one reason or another.
