Account Terminated, Without my Knowledge

Hi there,

Does anyone know of any way to contact a human on OpenAI to review what happened to my account? My API was mostly used for coding, and suddenly I got terminated without warning or any contact information. This must be a mistake.

Unfortunately, contacting both support@openai.com and trustandsafety@openai.com returns always the same answer.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching back to OpenAI Support.

We understand how disruptive it can be to have your account deactivated, especially when it plays a vital role in your development work or other critical tasks. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and want to assure you that we’re here to help.

Please be aware that previously deleted OpenAI accounts cannot be reactivated.

However, you can create a new account using the same email address once 30 days have passed since the deletion.

If you prefer not to wait, you have the option to register immediately using an alternative email address. If you don’t have another address available, you can use an email sub-address instead. For example, you could try jane+alt@example.com in place of jane@example.com. While your email provider will likely treat both addresses the same, our system will recognize the sub-address as a new account.

We’ve also made the sign-up process simpler—phone number verification is no longer required to create a standard OpenAI account. However, if you plan to use the OpenAI API, you’ll still need to verify your phone number before generating your first API key.

If you're looking to regain access to your current account or manage it, we recommend reviewing the following resources:

We appreciate your patience, and if you need further assistance, our support team is always ready to help.

No matter how many times I reply, the exact same email is received, from both sides.
This is unbelievable, how can they function like this?

And more importantly, I was on Tier IV and approaching Tier V so what happened to the credits I had on my account?

Terminating an account without justification, and without any information while keeping all credits, looks criminal. I hope OpenAI is not randomly doing this and keeping the money, else in no time I can see some sort of class action going their way.

I understand this is for developers, but I kindly ask everyone if there is some reliable way to contact support, because email and chat is clearly not working.

Thanks

It would be criminal to go into the OpenAI offices and start taking equipment like laptops until your loss and time is adequately compensated.

However, when they haven’t paid up the default judgement after you take them to court, and resist their motions to dismiss, for venue, or for binding arbitration, you can have the San Francisco sheriff’s accompany you while you do just that.
