I’ve been experimenting with Codex 5.5, and the experience has been genuinely impressive.
One small friction I kept running into: after installing many plugins and skills, I often forgot what I had available when I wanted to use @ mentions. The plugins were powerful, but they were easy to lose track of in the flow of work.
So I started building a small local companion: a visual Dock for Codex plugins. The idea is simple:
- see installed plugins visually
- hover and scan them quickly
- copy a plugin name or starter prompt
- keep working without digging through memory or lists
The demo video was also shaped with Codex 5.5. GPT’s video model wasn’t working for me, so Codex generated a demo-video.html that communicated about 80–90% of the motion and product idea, which still saved me a lot of time.
One limitation: this cannot integrate directly into the Codex composer yet, because I don’t have access to that layer. So for now it works as a local companion rather than a native composer extension.
I’ll upload the project to GitHub in about a day after cleaning up the repo and writing a simple setup guide.
