"You exceeded your quota" but i did not

Hi there, I have been using the openAI API for a while, but haven’t in a few months.
It has always worked for me without any problems.
Yesterday however, I started working with it and after a few 100 calls I got the message ‘You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. For more information on this error, read the docs: https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/error-codes/api-errors.

However, my usage is not on its limit, see:

As you can see, the 2.44 I spent yesterday without any issues, and this is not near my limit.

Does anybody know what is going on, and how I can fix this?

Hi and welcome to the Community!

The issue is that you don’t have any funds available. Limit does not equal funds. Your funds are visible under balance - in your case it shows that you have USD 0 balance available. You need to go to settings and billing and then add additional funds to your account via a credit card.

Ok, I did not know that, thanks!
I was under the impression that I used to be billed automatically.
Has this changed?

Yes, OpenAI migrated to prepaid billing in the past months. You should have received communication from them via email on this.
