Hi,
I updated to the new Windows desktop app from the Microsoft Store.
The application is named ChatGPT, but it installs the OpenAI.Codex package and opens directly into the Codex experience.
At first I thought the ChatGPT desktop app had disappeared because I only saw Work and Codex in the app selector. There was no obvious way to access the regular Chat experience.
I later discovered that the old desktop application is now called ChatGPT Classic, which was not obvious at all.
I think many users will be confused by this migration. It might help to:
- explain more clearly that the Microsoft Store “ChatGPT” app is the new unified desktop app,
- explain the difference between ChatGPT, ChatGPT Classic, and Codex,
- make it clearer inside the app where the Chat experience is available (or why it isn’t yet).
Thanks!
