I need to bring attention to something that’s incredibly frustrating and, frankly, unacceptable.
I’ve been carefully pacing my use of GPT-4.5, aware of the message limit that’s been imposed. But today, I noticed that my limit was reset early—before I had even reached it. Instead of letting me use the messages I’m entitled to, the system arbitrarily reset and now forces me to wait four more days before I can continue.
This is beyond aggravating. I was in the middle of working on a long-form creative project (a story I’ve been writing in collaboration with GPT), and now I’m being blocked—not because I misused the tool or exceeded any limits, but because the system decided to reset my usage early without warning or reason.
What’s even more frustrating is that I barely see anyone talking about this on the forums, which makes me wonder if this issue is being ignored or just not acknowledged.
Why is this happening? Why impose limits if they’re going to be enforced inconsistently, penalising people who haven’t even hit them yet? And why is there zero transparency about this?
For users who are seriously invested in creative projects, this isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s disruptive and demotivating. You’re interrupting work, killing momentum, and actively making it harder to use the product the way it’s meant to be used.
OpenAI, you need to:
- Fix this reset bug.
- Communicate clearly if there are silent system changes or errors.
- Stop penalising users for system-side mistakes.
This is not how you treat paying customers who are here to actually use the product beyond casual chatting.
Please explain why this happened and how you’re going to prevent it from happening again.
