I updated ChatGPT earlier today, and all of my Projects were suddenly gone. There was no warning, no explanation, and no instructions telling me where they had moved or how to access them. I genuinely thought I had lost all of my work.
I spent nearly an hour searching through the app, reading forum posts, and clicking through every menu trying to find my original Projects. That’s an hour I should have been spending working, not trying to figure out a UI redesign.
From what I could find, the only apparent workaround is to downgrade to the previous desktop version just to get the original Projects experience back. If that’s actually the recommended solution, something has gone seriously wrong with this release.
The PM team seriously dropped the ball on this one. They removed basic functionality that people relied on every single day. I opened ChatGPT expecting to start work immediately, and instead I wasted almost an hour just trying to find a feature that used to be obvious.
This is honestly becoming a joke. If a redesign makes core workflows harder instead of easier, it’s a failed redesign. Good product design shouldn’t require users to search forums or downgrade the app just to recover essential functionality.
Please stop removing basic features in the name of “improving” the product. If you’re going to make major workflow changes, at the very least provide a clear migration guide, explain what’s changed, and give users a way to keep using the workflows they’ve built their daily work around.
I really hope the team reconsiders this change. Right now, it feels like productivity took a step backward, not forward.
