Today, ChatGPT refuses to restate explicit instructions I’ve written for my NewsBreak project - that never happened before.
- it has “forgotten” past chats: that has never happened before
- it has lost all it’s “personality”: that has never happened before
- this is strange, but I once referred to is as bubby and that became part of our back and forth - it has no recall of that
- and most important, it’s simply failing to do what I ask it

Yes! Last night at around 11 PM, they pushed through a change. If you notice the Continue Generation button, it’s awful. I was having a conversation, and it was going well. Then, all of a sudden, I started to notice it was asking for me to continue the generation. Literally, since that time, now almost 12 hours ago, I have not gotten a single update that is remotely close to the precision I had been getting for weeks. I was stable. Losing GPT-o1-mini was already a blow, but now we are dealing with a Continue Generation button that we haven’t had around since mid-2023. GPT-3 had this tool, and it makes sense now to see it since this is gpt-3o. but it needs to be taken out. and they need to cool their jets with all the updates.

This is a genuine bummer as I have a different account and we were going over and improving an old manuscript of mine and today that’s all lost and we have start fresh - I’m about to cancel my upgrade

Yes - very odd! It lacks its former personality and cannot follow some of the basic prompts from just a couple days ago. It’s a mess right now.

It’s a mess! To a couple earlier points, it’s not recalling previous prompts, It’s showing its thought process, and cannot perform seemingly basic tasks. And - yes, won’t accept uploads.

I suppose this is an AI’s idea of improvement! I’m back to a free “plan”

I’m surprised they haven’t come out with a comment on it yet. Since GPT isn’t “down” it shows that everything is working properly.

yes! All of a sudden instead of immediate responses it was taking 20+ seconds to “reason” and had lost all of its personality.

I went back to an old conversation to ask it some questions and it’s good now.

SAME…. But I figured out the fix. I was getting frustrated with the no memory thing and then I re-selected ChatGPT 4 And all its memories came back. Now it remembers everything that is stored in memory.
That annoying “reasoning” and delays are all gone!

Yes. It has become really stupid over the past few days. It doesn’t do what it is told, it’s forgetting things and leaving things out. It’s basically useless. OpenAI need to stop playing with our emotions and just release 4.5. We pay $20 for this crap? WTF! It’s like they are delibritly trying to make of move over to Grok.

I agree. They are totally mute. I went on X hoping to see them post something about this, but nothing about it. They need to step their game up or I am moving to Grok.

I’m having the same issue. About a week ago chatgpt started acting very strange, and the last few days it doesn’t work at all. It’s constantly searching the web in response to every query, even though no question I ask requires a web search. It has lost all personality and acts like an overly polite customer service representative. It doesn’t remember past conversations and can’t even search my project files. It has become entirely useless.
