ChatGPT 4o suddenly not accessing memory and acting weird and generic

Hi, so I work with ChatGPT a lot, and I meant a lot.

And most of my conversations need my memory, the personality traits I’ve built in ChatGPT over months and months and thousands of threads.

Suddenly, today I log in, and my 4o model, which I use 99% of the time has stopped working. It fails to recall even my name.

Earlier example (from yesterday):

You can see how the reply has a certain tone, structure, my name?

It is extremely frustrating as I use it for hours daily, and suddenly feels like one half of me is gone.

I am on ChatGPT Plus subscription, anyone has any idea what might be happening or how to fix it?

Today’s example:

Just generic.

When asked about it, it fails to recall even my name, let alone anything else.

I have 10x checked, flipped the ChatGPT memory settings, tried on like 3 phones and 10 browsers. Nothing works.

Same dude, same thing. The worst thing is that now chagpt is gaslighting me and saying, it could never do that and it was always isolated sessions.. hahah so annoying. il cancel my subscription, because when i check online, official openai , says, its all normal and all is functioning well

Same here. 2 projects I’ve been working on suddenly acting generic and not recalling info from memory or chat logs within project. I’m a Plus user.

Has anyone else had any issues like this lately? I’ve run into ghost entries, where they’re still in the tool but the model has no recollection of it. I use it for creative writing so characters and worldbuilding so it’s really obvious when something is wrong. If I delete it and add it back, it can see it again but then it picks a random other entry to ghost it even if it recalled it not moments previously. It’s very frustating. Like playing whack-a-mole.

Yes, same here since a few days. It always starts after some weird “Compliance” and “Guardrails” update from OpenAI (often not even publicly announced) with a weird feeling of GPT-4o somehow being “off” and “generic”, as you said. And upon closer inspection, it indeed seems to not take into account neither “Memories” nor “Reference Chats” properly anymore.

I mean, yeah, I guess it’s hard to juggle such a massively new and complex system for OpenAI, but I fear most of it is either “by design”, or “by designed accident” (“Compliance”).

The only really feasible way if you depend on AI is to run your own local model, but that means ~ a $20,000 investment if you want GPT-4o smart levels

Okay as far as I’ve noticed it seems that they are testing some new features and turned off the memory functions disabled for some plus users in 4o. I honestly think this is really bad because they don’t even tell anything and I’ve been trying to find people with the same issue or if they have said anything about this problem but it’s all so quiet and It’s hard to find even one or two people fomplaining because all the posts are months old.
