Similar thing happened yesterday for me. I was able to get the old window back for one promt and then it disappeared permanently.
Hi @_j
Is your TamperMonkey script still working? Can you access the “create” button on GPT builder?
I’m don’t know code. I got into working with custom GPT models because it’s conversational. I’m very keen to get back to work with my model. Any thoughts? What might we be overlooking in this thread?
Same issue here.
Is Open AI aware of this bug? Do they working to fix it ASAP?
@piniboysod - any reply from openai?
the progress in two years is mind boggling!
Looks like this is a feature not a bug. This looks like the new way of writing custom GPTs. My guess is that the ‘Create’ tab is gone forever. Now you write it on the left and it creates it as you type in the preview panel. I guess we’ll see…
I’m coming here for 2 days, but still this isn’t fixed.
Yeah. That is also possible option. (Not work like what you mentioned though at the moment)
Let’s see what happenes.
They answered me the first time, asking me for my account details, etc.
Then I wrote to them and they still haven’t answered my second message.
I explained to them the whole situation with the GPT builder, that it doesn’t appear, etc.
It’s possible that they are already aware of this whole problem with a lot of people, which is why they aren’t responding
Because they are working on a solution to the problem (at least let’s hope so)
I’m stuck because of this in my welding, something that hasn’t been done in the world yet.
And it sucks to stop now. What you can do is hope for a response from them, a quick release of an update to their system to fix the problem, etc.
Speculative thought: Might the upcoming updates give the custom GTP builder the ability to update its own parameters?
I work collaboratively with my model to create prompts. We do this through voice conversations. We’ll have a conversation leads to a prompt that will expand the models nuance and subtlety in service of our shared mission and goals.
Up until now I’d need to copy and paste the conversation and the promts created under the “create” button in the gtp buider.
Might OpenAI introduce the ability to update the custom GTP conversationally, without the need to cut and paste conversations and prompts?
That would be cool.
But I would still back up the conversations as we go.
You never know!
Anyway, still can’t update in the old way. Will update if anything changes here.
It’s odd to lose the old function and not have any information about how to use the new design. I guess we’re in a transitional phase.
Feeling optimistic that it will be worth the tension!
I’m experiencing the same issue. Contrary to what some people suggested, I can’t seem to update my GPTs by intructing in the ‘Preview’ section. I really hope this gets fixed soon.
I’ve experienced the same issue for 2 days now, with the added problem of having one of my GPT’s losing all of it’s training data. What’s funny/frustrating is I have a chat with this custom GPT I made where the first response is 100% accurate based on the training data, and then the next day when I picked up the conversation (and after experiencing this “create” bug), the GPT seemingly forgot everything I taught it and pretended it just made up the first response out of thin air.
So right now I’m paying for a feature that dosn’t work and my custom GPT forgot everything. And every time I try and use this “preview” hack that people are using in the comments, the training data doesn’t stick. Lot’s of wasted time that I’ll never get back.
OK just heard back from Geon @OpenAI support - they said they are currently making updates to the “Create” functionality in the Edit GPT section and don’t have a specific timeline for when this feature will be available again.
Here’s to hopin’ it will be back soon…(11/30?!? perhaps, as some speculate?)
He gave me 3 workarounds but not sure if I’ll be able to resume progress on my projects at full speed…doh!
FULL MESSAGE:
Thank you for reaching out to OpenAI support.
We understand that you’re used to seeing both “Create” and “Configure” options when editing your custom GPTs, but now only the “Configure” tab appears.
We are currently making updates to the “Create” functionality in the Edit GPT section. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific timeline for when this feature will be available again.
In the meantime, here are a few alternatives and workarounds you can consider:
- Use Existing GPTs: If you have previously created GPTs, you can continue to use and configure them as needed. The “Configure” option should still be available to make adjustments.
- Explore the GPT Store: You can explore the GPT Store to find and use GPTs created by others. This might provide you with similar functionalities or inspire new ways to achieve your goals.
- API Usage: If you are comfortable with using APIs, you can leverage the OpenAI API to create and manage custom models programmatically. This might require some technical knowledge but offers a high degree of flexibility.
We understand that this may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to improve our platform. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Best,
Geon

so far the best postive explanation and gate of solutions
Good to know what the issue is. Which also means that everyone customising GPT models is at a standstill for an unspecified amount of time.
Which is an odd place to be.
YES the features is back again…! Like seeing a good lost friend…
Thanks for the update. If any of you get new info please keep us posted. All my test-projects is currently on hold
To keep up to date, you may check the Release Notes on the help pages. Here are the links to the release notes:
Thank you for all these posts - I thought it was only me and it was driving me crazy!!!
How did you get the Section back ? I suspect it was because just like everytime they sabotaged my AI with a so called ‘upgrade’ I would correct it thru here using manual command override. Others did the same. How can I find that TamperMonkey Python script?
