Same issue here, with any size
Same here. Uploading a pdf of any size - “Unknown Error”
Same issue. No matter the name. I even renamed a file just “a.pdf”. Also doesnt matter if you use copy and paste or the file upload button. Not sure if API currently has the same issue.
This problem has been ongoing for many people it seems. I have some PDF documents that it has read in the past and when I ask it to read them like it once did, it can no longer do so. Where is the response from devs or how can we get information on the cause/solution to this issue that many of us are facing with our paid subscription accounts and it would appear even professional/business accounts.
I fixed my issue. I used a pdf to jpg converter, the “I (heart) PDF” and sent that to chat gpt 4o. It analyzed it and read everything from there. You can try that and see if it works for you.
can everyone stop saying “Im having the same issue!” or “Me too!” because its so annoying trying to find an answer to this problem when everyone replies about it. WE GET IT. YOU HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. WHY ELSE WOULD YOU BE VIEWING THE POST???
Has there been any solution?
Lol, maybe you just need to change the file extension from .pdf to .notpdf.
P. S. If he says there’s no text, it’s probably just an image, tell him that.
Is there anyone who can fix this? I’m having the same problem uploading the pdf:
mql5.com/files/pdf/mql5#dot#pdf
Worked for me:
Open PDF in Adobe - Print - Printer: PDFCreator
… new file could be uploaded to ChatGPT without any problems
Same issue for me but I found a workaround I decided to try based on the above discussion. This was an older PDF that was mostly images, not searchable text. I OCR’s that text in ADOBE to make it a searchable PDF then resaved the file. Now it will upload without issue…still a problem OpenAI needs to address, but at least there is a workaround.
Ty! I was able to solve this problem after use “microsoft print to PDF”!
it worked for me too. thanks!!
I had this problem on Mac and was able to get the file to be processed and read correctly by opening the file in Preview and exporting it with the “Embed Text” option checked.
I am having the same issue.
Is there a fix for this now? I am a paid user and still have that issue
I had acrobat recognize the text in my PDF and that did the trick. I uploaded them and ChatGPT was able to read the pdf. Another thing that worked was converting the pdf to an image file.
I had the same issue until I had Acrobat recognize all the text in the pdf (OCR), saved it, then uploaded the file to chatgpt. It did the trick. Also, by converting the pdf to an image file, chatgpt was able to read that data also. Either way works.
I have run into to same issue on plus. Compressing my file into a zip and attaching the zip to chatgpt seems to work around the issue. Hopefully the devs can fix this soon.
This seems to be the best solution. Thanks for helping!
