Unicode combining characters can't be typed in ChatGPT macOS app

On macOS, it’s easy to type umlauts and other special characters native to certain languages with Unicode combining characters. One of the most common ones is Option+U to get a ¨ (combining) and then typing, e.g. the letter a to get an ä. Same with an Option+E for accent ´ followed by e becomes é.

However, the desktop app’s chat input field immediately deletes the combining character before a second character can be typed. This is likely due to an overeager invalid character filter but it of course crushes accessibility for people wanting to type, e.g. French or German on an international keyboard.
