This old thread that you have found does not inform you that “code interpreter” has been renamed to “advanced data analysis”.

Enable: selected under the model types up at the top when you have a plus account,

Then: questions that need advanced computation can inspire the AI to write and execute a python program to perform the task.

I did enable it, but it doesn’t show the + sign for uploading text, just an image icon.

Maybe just be persistent with your clicking on the non-intuitive dropdown list…
