I’m experiencing issues with downloading my personal data export from https://privacy.openai.com/policies. I reached out to privacy@openai.com multiple times with NO Response.
- Export Size: ~308 GB
- Problem:
- The OpenAI portal shows my archive as ready and “Download complete.”
- When I try to download it (using Chrome), the download stops after about 5–6 GB, saving a ZIP file that is only around 5.8 GB.
- Windows reports the ZIP file as corrupted or invalid, and I can’t open it.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken
- Tried downloading several times
- Tested on two different Windows computers and two different internet connections
- Each attempt results in a partial, unusable file
It appears the download is being cut off before completion on OpenAI’s side. My goal is simply to receive the full, uncorrupted 308 GB archive.
Can anyone from the support team assist please??

This is broken on Chrome and Brave (latest, Mac)
In brave no download appears, progress bar just fails around 11% and says download successful.
In Chrome a native chrome download begins but it fails around 11% as well.
This is certainly one way to create a walled garden!

I reached out to privacy at openai on Nov 27th, this was all I got back from them so far.

Looks like the messaging in the portal doesn’t align with what what's actually being downloaded.
This issue should be fixed with an update we’re making next week!
