Hey everyone,
I recently encountered a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to share a ChatGPT conversation using this link: ChatGPT Share Link.
If anyone knows why this might be happening or if the OpenAI team could look into it, I’d appreciate any insights.
Thanks!

Same issue for me on several of my links I’ve just updated, e.g., chatgpt/com/share 523edfb6-7b23-4a7a-ab5e-466728e0a6ac (and also I’m getting a message that I can’t share links here but there’s a link button lol wut?)
Hmm… no error posting this link this time, but it does not seem to reflect the presence of any known ongoing issue: https://status.openai.com
Got the following response through a “help” request:
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to OpenAI support.
Sorry about the trouble. Sometimes, users of ChatGPT might see errors like ‘Something went wrong’ or similar. The error you’ve experienced could be due to a range of factors. It might be an issue on our end or possibly a problem with your internet connection.
Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
-
Retry the request again later - this often solves the problem.
-
Visit our status page to check for any active outages that might be temporarily impacting the service.
-
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
-
If you’re using a VPN, try disabling it.
-
Try using an incognito browser or a different internet browser/computer. Sometimes, a security add-in or extension can cause this type of error.
-
Disable any cookie blockers you might have enabled.
-
Consider connecting to a different network, such as switching from WiFi to a cellular/mobile network
Even without a reported outage or issues with your network, these errors can randomly occur. While they’re less common for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, they can still occur from time to time. In most cases, retrying the request later resolves the problem.
We hope this helps! Let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with.
Best,
Geon
