OpenAI just shipped milestone awards to its most active developers. We timed it with DevDay 2025 so we could hand the awards to eligible developers in person. Sharing some more info to clear up some questions — and hopefully inspire you to one day receive one of these awards!
There are three levels: 10B (silver), 100B (black), and 1T (blue) tokens processed with the OpenAI API.
The awards are custom-made with the organization’s name. Each features a precision-milled anodized aluminum “token.” And they’re heavy. Manufacturing and delivery may take up to six weeks.
This first batch’s cut-off is July 23, 2025, which means you would’ve had to have passed those milestones before this date in order to receive the award this time.
If you weren’t at DevDay and passed any of these milestones, you would’ve received an email from the “OpenAI Platform Team” to collect your shipping address. We send the emails to the owner of the organization.
If you were at DevDay and didn’t receive the award for some reason (registered late so we didn’t have it for you, forgot to pick it up, etc.), the team will email you for shipping info.
I do hope there will be future batches and awards will be sent on a rolling basis. (E.g., you can receive the next milestone award if you had previously passed a smaller milestone.)
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good way of detecting/merging token usage across multiple organizations that might be owned by a single developer or company.
With all due respect, I have surpassed this milestone long before the cutoff date and did not receive an email on my eligibility despite having achieved this on one organisation alone.
From January 2024 through July 2025, my startup has processed around 45 billion tokens, with approximately 33 billion just in 2025 (up to June).
However, I haven’t received any email from the OpenAI Platform Team regarding the milestone awards yet. I’d really appreciate it if you could help me check whether I’m eligible or let me know until when the emails will continue being sent out for this first batch.

I assumed the list displayed, on top of the cut-off date, only included the people that attended to the devDay, likely invited by openAI.
After God, only OpenAI knows how many 3 a.m. commits stand behind this dream. Especially, Reactive Space represents one of the first recognitions of its kind from OpenAI in Pakistan. #reactivespacetoken-awards
These fabulous awards were distributed in conjunction with DevDay 2025 as noted in the first post, by staff no longer with OpenAI.
No updates except for those awards self-reported by recipients, that still trickled out for a while based on the July 2025 usage snapshot.
I would not alter your usage pattern to receive a chunk of plastic, when a nicer gamification use of funds, even virtual, would be that the 1% of your consumption these might have cost to manufacture come right back to you.
