Toggling on temporary chat removes the text box. This is happening on different devices as well, signed in. This makes me unable to type anything into temporary chat.

Same issue here. Personal PLUS plan. Unsuccessful troubleshooting attempts: cleared cookies, signed out and back in, use different browser (Firefox, Safari). It still works in the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS, though; just not on any desktop/browser.

Same here. It worked fine, and then it started hiding the input box on the next page load. I can still use the regular chat just fine.

Same issue! The text box comes back if you deactivate the temporary chat toggle, and it does not work too even if u are in an existing chat and toggle it on.

This is an intentional user study by OpenAI to determine how much we value our privacy. They are measuring how many people give up and give them access to our data.

Temporary fix is to go open the temporary chat then append this to your URL: &q=hello
The q= paramater makes it submit a query. the textbox will then be available. You can either then change the model through the dropdown (and hope it doesn’t reset) or add a &model=o3-mini paramater (or whatever model name).

Can confirm this issue and that ShortTimeNoSee’s solution works.
To address Noneofyourbusiness’s comment, OpenAI’s (stated) data retention policies match for temporary chats and deleted chats.
Deleted chats are hard deleted from our systems within 30 days, unless they have previously been de-identified and disassociated from your account or we have to keep them for security or legal reasons.
Temporary Chats are deleted from our systems within 30 days – and reviewed only when needed to monitor for abuse – and won’t be used for model training
If you are worried about data retention (and believe OpenAI enough to trust temporary chats in the first place), delete your chats after use. It’s inconvenient but is hopefully only a short-term solution.

It works and for me at first it was blank, chatbox appeared but no output was showing, then I hit the clear chat button, and things started to work as fine. Anyway thanks dude
