I am a long-time ChatGPT4.0 user and have encountered some issues that significantly impact the user experience: ChatGPT sometimes suddenly “forgets” recent discussions within the same Project, rather than gradually fading out older details. This disrupts the continuity of long-term conversations.
I hope ChatGPT Team can consider improving the memory mechanism for long-term conversations:
- I hope ChatGPT can forget information gradually, instead of suddenly losing entire chunks of context.
- It would be great if different Projects could share memory, so I don’t have to repeatedly introduce myself and my background in every new chat.
- If the memory limit is reached, ChatGPT should notify the user rather than automatically erasing important details.
These improvements would make ChatGPT feel more like a long-term intellectual companion rather than just a short-term conversation tool. Many users, including myself, rely on AI to maintain consistent, meaningful discussions over time.
