When you run into the “stopped thinking” state, one quick thing to try is switching models, for example GPT-5.2 Instant or Thinking. Sometimes forcing a different model clears the session and gets things moving again.
If that doesn’t help, I’d recommend clearing your cache and cookies and then logging back in. It’s also worth testing in a private or incognito window, disabling browser extensions especially ad or script blockers, and trying a different browser to see if it behaves the same way.
Give that a try and see if it stabilizes things on your end.
I have been facing this problem for quite some time now. In the earlier versions the latest model, extended pro took time to think and then come back with responses. The responses were good and worth the wait.
For the past 1M, I have been noticing that the latest model extended pro mode stops thinking after a min and doesnt generate any response. I have to refresh and get a response immediately, the response quality has also degraded.
I am not sure if I am the only person facing this
