Sora API fails to generate videos starting May 29

Using Sora API to generate videos, getting this in my logs. No errors, but no videos. This happened all of a sudden yesterday:

2026-05-30 04:36:37,890 - api.pipeline - INFO - Video video_6a1a686cede08191b8b61ac2948c25dd04e633957e897339 status: in_progress, progress: 0

The API just returns 200 OK, with no error of any kind.

have the same problem. tried to make it shorter but still doesnt work

Thanks for reporting. We’ll try to get some eyes on it. Details appreciated.

Thank you! Happy to provide any details that would help via email. We are an EdTech app that uses Sora (among other things) to create material, at a sizable scale (5 at a time, many per day in peak times of preparation for release) using an internal content tool that becomes part of learning material for students. It’s generally worked with no issues. We can provide logs and account information if needed.

Just a note, I tried again, same behavior. I can’t include logs here because the forum system rejects the links they contain. To make it worse, we now have 46 “zombie processes” on the OpenAI side that never complete but also never error out, and I see no way of getting rid of them.

We started experiencing this same issue as well. Confirmed the error is coming directly from Sora API, not from our own gateway.

Same issue here. Videos are not generating. They just stick in an endless ‘load’ but never generate. If I refresh the page, the video creation request disappears. Happens across multiple browsers, devices, and with every prompt.

Hello,

I’m experiencing a problem with Sora video generation.

Today, all video generation tasks stopped working. When I submit a prompt, the task is created and appears in the project, but no generation progress bar appears, no status is shown (no “Queued”, “Generating”, or “Failed”), and the task remains in the project indefinitely.

I tested:

  • Multiple prompts, including a very simple prompt: “cat”

  • A completely new project

  • A new account

  • Google Chrome on PC

  • Safari on iPhone

The issue occurs on all devices and browsers.

Earlier today, I received a single “Failed” error stating that the media size did not match the required dimensions, even though the dimensions were correct. After that, new generations stopped working entirely.

I also noticed network activity when submitting a generation request, which suggests that the request is being sent to the server, but the generation never starts.

Could you please investigate whether there is an issue with my account or with the Sora generation service?

Thank you.

Same here. All submissions return HTTP 200 with valid video IDs, then sit at status: in progress, progress: 0, error:
null indefinitely. Started May 29, my oldest stuck jobs are 30+ hours in with zero movement.

Tested on a fresh second account with a short 4s clip same hang. Definitely platform-side.

Reading through other online forums, this is apparently affecting Sora API across multiple platforms.

Same here

6 videos stuck at “progress:0”

No error code, just stuck at 0 since May 29th. You cannot cancel them either via DELETE requesT

They’re aware of the problem and looking into it. We should have an update shortly. Thanks again.

im using Make for api and all my videos stopped yesterday. i have dozens stuck “in progress”. Same issue today.

Hi,
I have tried using sora 2 pro through open ai and replicate. And I am receiving this error “Service unavailable”.

I’m not sure if you’re aware of it but Sora has been disabled.

It should be working until September, but is also not working for me today.

Hi @T.Maillet ,

Just to clarify: Sora 2 / Videos API is deprecated, but according to the docs it is scheduled to shut down on September 24, 2026. So a current 503 Service Unavailable error is not necessarily explained by the deprecation alone.

Thanks for the clarification

We are having same issue, coming directly from Sora API as other reported. Was this problem confirmed? I don’t see it being marked on status page. Thank you

The problem persists. Videos still stuck at progress:0
