Feature Request: Project Archiving and Nested Project Folders
I use ChatGPT Plus extensively in my professional engineering consulting practice.
My client projects often contain numerous related conversations, engineering studies, technical procedures, uploaded files, and documented decisions. Preserving these materials together within their original project is essential.
Currently, ChatGPT does not allow users to archive entire projects or organize projects within folders.
I request two enhancements:
-
Archive Projects: Allow completed projects to be removed from the active Projects sidebar while preserving their conversations, files, instructions, and working history intact.
-
Nested Project Folders: Allow users to organize entire projects under categories such as Active Projects, Completed Projects, AM Engineering, FM Engineering, and Television Engineering.
Moving individual conversations into another project is not an adequate substitute because it separates them from their original organizational context and supporting materials.
These features would make ChatGPT substantially more useful as a long-term professional knowledge base for engineers, consultants, researchers, and other project-oriented users.
Thank you for considering these improvements.
