Proposal: Built-in Developer Environment for OpenAI API – A Step Toward Secure Integration for External Devs

Hello fellow OpenAI developers :waving_hand:,

because theres no reason to, and vs code is built for that -

as a external dev

why dont you simply integrate openai custom gpt into vs code - link it to a fast api/rest launch that locally and viola you have openai+vscode who can code for you?

this is the short version of copilot in vs code minus the massive training set.

yea bro - check out what metaprogramming is

dev console = what you were suggesting.

metaprogramming when done correctly, removes the need for the ai to understand the differnce between python, coffe, c#/c++

your proposal would be costly for openai outside of aquiring a partnership with unreal engine. If you are already using openai api system - then you are already familair with how to integrate its the same thing cody/copilot and others do.

you also said this - they already do this, they give most people a sandbox enviorment in teams, it is this - they also already inherently have their models test modules in the same sandbox env. like today . right now

this isnt to discourage you - im just saying, they already do that. anyone can go talk to gpt and get that experience by default.

kind of bro.

“i” integrated with unreal source code as well as others, because im not very smart and for my style of coding I use “numbers” i dont actually type code.

your suggestion ( as none of my comments are to refute you) is for open ai to provide a central location tailored to devs that allows for more productivity without having to put in the orchestration work.

im saying - they already do that - inherently, via codex, default gpt and now agents.

the sandboxed enviorment, they provide 2 forms of - the agents which is a ghetto virtual machine, the other is the team usage of openai default gpt.

for api centric - the api itself is that sandbox ( we usually build the envs locally) from my understanding is

again their agent, codex, and default gpt usage, do this - if you mean locally, again thats obtained “typically” with like 40 lines of code brother- which GPT gives you if you ask.

my posting of unreal + python is just 1 of many examples wherein you get what you want and more - again not to discourage you - but as a proposal - openai already provides what you are wanting. At scale.
