I don’t want it. I have to agree to a bunch of new cookies, and if a login is required there goes my flow. Opening links directly in my desired browser is what helps me.
The current flow is appalling:
Click link
Tap option menu to open in desired browser
Read web content
Switch app back to ChatGPT
Close out of in app browser.
It could all be so much easier if you let me disable this in app browser. Thank you and goodnight
I agree that the current in-app browser behavior needs more user control, but my main issue is slightly different.
When I tap a link inside ChatGPT, I want to be able to choose:
Open in ChatGPT
or
Open in Browser
Sometimes the embedded browser is perfectly fine. Other times I am using the linked page as a reference while continuing the conversation in ChatGPT.
In those situations, opening the page inside ChatGPT effectively covers the conversation I am working from. To refer back to the chat, I have to leave or close the browser layer, and I can lose my place on the page I was reading.
That makes research unnecessarily cumbersome.
The ideal behavior would be a simple choice when opening or long-pressing a link:
Open in ChatGPT
Open in default browser
Optionally, “Always use this choice”
This is less about disliking the in-app browser and more about preserving two separate working contexts: the conversation and the source material.
