Hi! I’m doing the “ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers” free course, and I think it’s great, but when I try to put it into practice by sending a prompt, I only receive an error message: ‘openai.error.RateLimitError: you exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details’. I saw that I had $18 for free, which seems to have expired without me ever using them. The issue is that now I can’t put into practice what I’m learning with the DeepLearning.ai course, and I really want to develop a couple of prototypes with ChatGPT.
I’ve been reading other similar forums, and I haven’t seen any real solution that doesn’t involve opening another account (which I don’t think should be the solution) or paying. I can’t afford a plus account, hopefully I can if any of the prototypes become successful, but for now I just want to learn.
If you have a $18 credit you opened your account before March 2023, but there is an expiration date - 3 to 6 months from the opening date, depending when the account was opened.
Hello, I’m a new to OpenAI and has the total same situation as Mike.
I just created a new account of OpenAI and succeeded to use the API. But today I couldn’t use the API anymore. (My usage was just $0.004)
I still don’t know the reason but I can understand the incident is not only for me.
Hey folks. looks like the credits have expired, ChatGPT and the API share an account so I believe the free trial might have started if you created a ChatGPT account in the past. I will look into updating this in the future but right now that is the way the system is setup.
Those are my unused credits. I guess I was an early adopter.
It would be great if you can find a solution for that. As a dev, it would be really nice to be able to have access to the API.
I use same account on ChatGPT and API. I pay $19/month. Why do I still get message: “you exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details”?
