Organization verification “Identity rejected” after successful verification flow (solo developer) — no retry available

Hi everyone,

I’m a solo/independent developer trying to call the GPT-5 API. It looks like my organization needs verification to access the protected models/features I need.

I started Individual verification in the OpenAI Platform. I followed the steps exactly (added a payment method, uploaded my government-issued ID, completed the live selfie/biometric capture). During the flow, the system indicated the verification was completed successfully.

However, when I returned to the Platform settings page, the status showed:

“Identity rejected”
and it seems retries are not supported, so I’m blocked from using GPT-5.

What I’ve already double-checked:

The ID photo + live selfie were clear, unobstructed, and from original documents (not screenshots/scans).

My account/organization profile information matches my ID.

This is my first attempt; the ID hasn’t been used to verify another organization in the last 90 days.

No obvious technical issues occurred during the flow.

Questions:

Has anyone seen this “Identity rejected” outcome even after the flow reports success?

What are the most common reasons in practice (e.g., name/region mismatch, billing profile mismatch, document type issues)?

Any tips that helped you get it resolved (e.g., switching to passport, aligning billing/profile country, contacting support with specific details)?

If you contacted support, what details were most useful for them (organization ID, timestamps, screenshots, etc.)?

Thanks in advance — any guidance or similar experiences would be really helpful.

Yes region may be a problem.

And if there is nothing else you should contact the support.

This forum can’t really help with account specific problems.
It’s mostly meant to help with problems using the api in general.
