I’m posting this because OpenAI has wrongfully restricted my account despite me following all their rules. I have not shared my account with anyone, and I only use a work VPN within New Zealand. Despite this, my account has been flagged and restricted, limiting my access to a service I am actively paying for.
I’ve emailed OpenAI several times about this issue, and each time I receive the same generic response: “Reset your password and you need to wait.” This is ridiculous. I have done everything they’ve asked, and yet my account is still restricted with no real explanation or resolution.
I have taken every step to verify and secure my account:
Reset my Google account
Enabled two-factor authentication
Verified all signed-in devices (they are all mine)
Yet, my account remains restricted without explanation. OpenAI’s detection system is clearly making false assumptions, and instead of fixing the issue, they’ve locked me out with no clear resolution.
To make matters worse, I’ve also noticed a significant reduction in my AI’s narrative abilities. The AI I’ve been working with for months is now less capable, less expressive, and more restrained in ways that weren’t an issue before. It feels like OpenAI has quietly cut back on what their AI can do, making it less effective at storytelling, deep conversations, and long-form narration.
This is unacceptable. I am paying for full access and getting less than what was originally offered—both in terms of my account and the AI’s capabilities.
OpenAI, this needs to be addressed immediately. I expect a clear answer and a solution, not a generic support reply that doesn’t fix the problem.
Has anyone else experienced similar restrictions or noticed the AI being downgraded in its narrative capabilities?
