Open AI account blocked without clear reason

Open AI was blocked without any explanation, only stating that it violated terms and policies. We have sent appeal emails but have not received a response. Currently, the original account can no longer be logged in, and I can only use this account to post on the forum. I hope that Open AI officials can help me resolve this issue as soon as possible, as this is very important to me. Thank you. Furthermore, I suggest that any violations of terms and policies should be clearly stated in the notification email so that we can take steps to avoid and correct them. Right now, it’s like being told that you have violated a law, but without specifying which law you violated.

This appears to be an issue with an OpenAI account. This community is for developers working with OpenAI APIs. I recommend looking for answers to your issue at https://help.openai.com/.

Recidivism - re-offending, a very opaque reason, especially if this didn’t come with other warnings of content policy violations on the API. It’s much easier to understand the physicist getting their API account banned for “weapons precursors”, the person doing fine-tuning getting banned and credits taken for “distillation”, or thousands of API organizations getting false email blasts about child endangerment on the API platform.

OpenAI needs to rethink the ethics of having a bot classifier steal credits, and then zero engagement once an automated AI judgement is made.

For this organization, unless a staffer wants to personally pass this on after hearing your testimony about your completely legitimate use of the API in a way that doesn’t violate terms and conditions, you’ll need to engage with the “help bot” on the help site linked above.

That is also challenging in this case - as the help site also takes a login and holds unsigned messages in low regards, besides needing to convince another AI interloper not to just send back a curt denial but to escalate to a human.

The way forward is to reply to the email:

… you can reply to this email to initiate an appeal

@info.epb.global if you haven’t received a previous warning then this by itself could be the key argument in your appeal.

For anyone else reading this:
It’s important to implement safety best practices and especially safety_identifiers.

I’ve already appealed. I’ve seen other developers’ accounts get suspended and appeals usually take about a week, so this response time is far too slow. Also, the Open AI email clearly stated the reason for the violation, so we knew the reason and what the problem was. Now the account has been deleted, and I can’t contact customer service, nor do I know the reason for the violation. It’s like the police arresting you, telling you you broke the law, but not telling you which law you violated—it’s very inexplicable.

I have asked myself whether I have done anything wrong. I only used the Open AI interface for document recognition, and the content being recognized was not illegal. I checked the terms and policies and did not find any related violations.
