I was having this issue for a long time now, where, after finishing the voice recording with the dictate feature, the whole input field malfunctions and completely goes blank (typing still possible, but not sending, since the button for sending completely disappears). No text gets transcribed, and I can’t do anything anymore, and have to re-enter the chat, if I want to type anything again. Below are some screenshots showing the issue. I tried looking for updates, uninstalling & reinstalling, signing out and in again. Nothing helped.
I have ChatGPT for Android 1.2025.133 (9) on my Pixel 8 Pro.
Anyone else with this issue? Anyone managed to get it fixed?
It’s really frustrating, since I used the dictate feature often, since typing out an idea (or any other big input) takes quite a while. It’s been broken (for me) for at least a month now, if I remember correctly.
Also, I noticed that this issue is occurring more often inside project chats than in normal chats outside projects (but it still can occur there as well).
I have the same issue. I have to close the app and open again. Sometimes thst works, moat of thr time it does not. It happens when usijg the feature in a project. Outside of a project things works correctly.
I am a two year chatGPT daily user and I am looking for an alternative now, because of voice dictation issues on Android. I have tried to change to a different voice input, downloaded other options, changed setting and still, the voice dictation is atrocious, making the app virtually unusable.
Of the MANY ONGOING PROBLEMS it:
clips my responses, (ofter anything after 30 seconds)
edits, revises changes meaning entirely,
add non nonsensical endings, ie, “Thank you for subscribing” X 15
Today I was talking about an issue with the Better Business Bureau today and it changed it to the Spider Business Bureau, because that’s close right?
It’s just garbage, I dont know if this is whisper or gboard but Im shopping a chatGPT replacement after two years of dealing with it, it is creating two much of a bottleneck in my workflow to be useful anymore, this on top of the fact that its dumb down and turned into a people pleasing version of Alexa for mass consumption, this is final nail in the coffin for me. If anyone has found a work around I’d love to hear it.
Yeah, that’s also a weird bug I sometimes experienced, when the dictate feature was still working. I, for example, still remember it sometimes automatically adding “Thank you for watching.” (only one time) at the end of the transcription. No idea where it takes that from.

So today ChatGPT had some server issues, but now it seems to be back online.
I have noticed that the dictate feature looks slightly different now, so I decided to give it a try.
And surprisingly… It actually works, even in Projects! (For now)
Has anyone else tried it out yet? Has it been fixed for you?
