My images on chatgpt are generating really slow and end product is dull and sometimes like paint..i generate images alot so i noticed the difference pretty quickly. I noticed that this happened after they announced they’re rolling out the new image generator. Someone please help

Same issue here. Image generation is so slow that it is barely usable… I don’t care about having better images, just give me a way to use the previous image model…

On the upside is more realistic, suffers less from a specific “look”, is much more easily steerable over iterations and produces text far far far more accurately.
But agree it’s currently a bit slow.
Compare the speed with something like krea.ai and there is no comparison.
But overall I think a win imho and a very exciting development wrt to “steerability” and particularly text. We’ve not seen such accurate text in AI image generation before. Groundbreaking.

Slowly because it is being used by a huge amount of users, I think.
Today, Sam Altman is posted on X:
it’s super fun seeing people love images in chatgpt.
but our GPUs are melting.
we are going to temporarily introduce some rate limits while we work on making it more efficient. hopefully won’t be long!
chatgpt free tier will get 3 generations per day soon.
(also, we are refusing some generations that should be allowed; we are fixing these as fast we can.)

I think, given the choice to use the new, super slow image generation, vs the old pretty fast one, a lot of the people currently using it would choose the old one unless they needed something special… this would help stop the GPU melt… but now I’m worried about super low restrictions

Also… today it’s failing to generate most of the time, no error… just generates nothing, or a partial image

I agree.
The older version should be an option for users, as not everyone requires realistic images or text within images.
I hope they provide both versions.
I might be one of the people pushing the limits of the GPUs 
, as I’ve been testing two characters consistently “Multi-Turn Generation”, resulting in 5 episodes with 6 panels each, totaling 30 images!

Agreed. I can’t stand how this new generator was forced on me. I can no longer easily generate the cartoonish styles of the giraffes I send my mom every day. Now I have wait 2-3 minutes for something that looks like absolute garbage.
ChatGPT itself told me I should use Bing Image Generator, so there’s something to digest.
I’m going to cancel my ChatGPT subscription if they don’t give us the option to use the older generator.

Its terrible now. I don’t want to wait 40+ seconds just for the same bad result. It was better when the generation was 5 seconds. About to cancel this is a joke.

I have been using DALL-E for over 6 months now, NEVER had these issues. It’s HORRIBLE! The image quality is NOT better, it will NOT create to scale when told to do it in 16:9, I get 1:1 EVERY image, and it takes me several minutes PER image… I’m supposed to get three FREE images a day with a free account BUT these rate limits have kept me to one a day SEVERAL times, and I am worried IF I subscribe to this poor service, that I will get screwed over by OpenAI on limits.

I take it you are using a subscription plan and still issues? Are they restricting your rate limits?

I just signed up yesterday. I question why anyone would want to pay a subscription… I have spend nearly half a day trying to create a joker card with my own design.
Every time I ask for edits, it produces: different colours, shades, duplicates letters, blends words and pictures together.
I even asked the “voice” option to create a promote it would understand. Nope. Same issue again and again.
Just keeps saying “sorry, you are right. let’s try again.” blah blah blah. I already canceled my sub. for next month. the free version had way less issues. sure it was slower, but so be it. it’s “free”.
that just made it worse. I tried it, but it didn’t help at all. Complete opposite
My images are dull and no longer what they used to be . The prompt for the image I had already generated is a highly polished digital painting with 3D-style rendering the style is whimsical, semi-realistic, and inspired by Pixar or DreamWorks animation stills. I can no longer get this style of image. Help!
